Our Process
There are over 4,000 franchise concepts available in the United States. Some are great, many are not, and it can be very difficult for the general public to distinguish the difference. Between franchise search portals, top 100 lists and pushy salesmen, your discovery into franchising can seem overwhelming. Your GFC consultant will navigate you through a three-step process designed to simplify the process and help you answer two fundamental questions:
1. Is franchising right for me?
2. Which brands best fit my vision for franchising?
First-time franchise shoppers often make their buying decision based only on brand name or industry. Simply put- this approach can be detrimental to your success as a franchisee. Just because a franchise is considered “good”, does not necessarily mean you are the right person for it.
Before you devote any attention to specific franchise brands or industries, you will work with your GFC consultant to profile your professional background, motivational drivers, business goals and desired lifestyle. This “inside-out” approach will save you a ton of time and hassle in the long run.
GFC is very selective in the franchise brands it chooses to work with. Using a series of strict criteria, the team has spent 1,000s of hours pre-screening franchise brands. By only working with the top 5-10% of the 4,000 franchise brands offered in the United States, we will keep you clear of the industry’s notable underbelly.
After we profile you as an aspiring franchisee, the next step is to cross-reference it against our portfolio of hundreds of leading franchise brands. Some of the attributes that lead to a strong franchise match include time devoted to the business, propensity for sales, managerial style, path to scale, and home market conditions. This systematic matching process is the fastest and most efficient way to ensure you are only focusing on the right franchise brands for you.
Each franchise brand sends their candidates through a discovery process designed to educate them on their offering and determine their compatibility as a potential franchisee. Although each brand has their own unique process, the core components of discovery are consistent across all franchises: brand overview, economics and FDD review, building the business (territory mapping, target demographics, etc), validation, discovery day, and legal review.
After you work with your GFC consultant to identify right-fit franchises, you are ready to begin your due diligence into each individual brand. Your GFC consultant will be in your corner the entire way- teaching you the right questions to ask, how to position yourself to franchisors and how to manage your fears and expectations.
Your GFC consultant will never influence your buying decision, but they will help you uncover all the necessary information needed to make an informed buying decision.
